Bring authentic, natural texture to your next project with our Porcupine Quills—a mixed assortment of real quills in a range of lengths and thicknesses, with some fine/smaller pieces and natural hair mixed in. Ideal for Indigenous-inspired crafting, beadwork, regalia accents, jewellery, mixed media, and decorative embellishment, these quills are sold unprocessed and need cleaning and sorting before use. To prep: gently shake or pick out loose hair by hand or with tweezers, then wash in warm (not hot) water with a small drop of mild dish soap, swish, rinse, and repeat until the quills look bright and clean; lay flat on a towel and air-dry completely. Once dry, sort by size and thickness (small/medium/large), setting aside very short or thin pieces for fine detail work, edging, small patterns, mosaic-style fills, or test work, then store in a dry container and handle with care to keep them straight and ready to use. Safety note: Quills are naturally sharp—handle with care, keep away from children and pets, and consider using gloves/tweezers when cleaning and sorting.
